For the first time ever in East Africa, Damian is set to perform on Wednesday 31st May at the Carnivore gardens in Nairobi. The concert will also feature local artists Wyre ‘The Love Child’, Juacali, Khaligraph Jones as well as feature leading DJs.
” The concert promises to be an exclusive treat for music lovers of all genres as Damian, the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley deliver to us the new Marley legacy of the 21st Century’ said Evarita Kamau, Marketing Director of Head Cornerstone Entertainment, the concert promoters.
Street Fusion is a medley of phenomenal global street music, bringing together three passions to create a wonderfully stimulating and fresh event ….It’s about adding an unexpected but beautiful twist to the great music we already love.
The 38-year-old and two-time Grammy award-winning reggae and dancehall artist last month announced the release of his latest album “Stony Hill” on which he collaborates with his brother Stephen Marley under the family Tuff Gong record label.
Damian, the only son born out of Bob Marley and Cindy Breakspeare’s relationship, began his career at the age of 13.
Due to his ability to blend reggae with other genres like R & B, Hip-hop, and dancehall, Damian has been able to work with many artists including Mick Jagger, Bobby Brown, Bruno Mars and rapper Nas and has successfully presented this universal sound to the world.
A musician and vocal advocate of social and controversial issues like education and legalization of marijuana, Damian has carved a niche for himself in going against the musical grain that his family has been known for. ‘Jr. Gong’ is the only Jamaican reggae artist in history to win two Grammy Awards on the same night. At the 2006 Grammy Awards, he wonBest Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for “Welcome to Jamrock.” He is also the only reggae artist to win in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance category at the Grammy Awards.
