What’s happening?

Yes, here at #LazeReggae, we count ourselves among the world’s biggest reggae fans. So, we really letting the masses in on an utterly perfect music festival we only just discovered? Reggae In The Sun! This is an outdoor event that encompasses everything positive about reggae, dancehall music and culture.

The event founder, Amollo John Ezekiel Oundo takes us through the artists scheduled to perform this weekend.

Reggae In The Sun Salma


Started Music in 2003 while in High School where she was the Entertainment captain in school.

Professionally started doing Music in 2010- to date in Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Kenya where she was the programmes chair whereby my aim was to uplift youth through talent development.

Graduated in 2013-2014 in music, leadership and intercultural studies while in Norway and released her first RnB single called Dancing in the Rain.

Started her own community based organisation Shauri Moyo Peace Makers in 2016 main aim is to create a safe space and promote sports and arts in the community

Has been hosting karaoke in different co-operate events and performing with different bands which include Sojourners reggae band, afriza band and many more.

She is a professional Salsa dancer and Choreographer for the past 10 years and has been performing in different events till now.

ZJ Heno:

Started deejaying in 2008 after High School where I Formed Empire Sound while still in school. Professionally he started in 2011/2012 When he Joined then Uptown Radio as a DJ / Presenter while still in university studying Journalism

Graduated in 2013 with a degree in Mass communication and Homeboyz Radio adopted me officially in 2014 till now.

He has gotten production mentorship from Shamir and Simon Krushal at their studio in Kibra (2012-2013), thus putting out the Passionate Riddim in 2013 with their help. Riddim Features Daville, Tiana, Kelissa,Chronixx,Di Genius and more

2014 he released a dancehall project called Tranquility Riddim. 2015 he released Compatible Riddim Towards last year December 2016 he put out Destination Riddim.

Royalty By Black: Reggae In The Sun 2017 | Know Your ArtistsYoung, fired up, musical, bold and conscious are just but a few of the words that are often used to describe Royalty by Black. Using conscious reggae music as their tool, the musical pride has made it their mission to educate, liberate and awaken the consciousness of the African mind. They rock the stage with lots of energy while still delivering highly entertaining, captivating and engaging performances.

Royalty By Black draws inspiration from African history, culture, its heroes and heroines. While musically being inspired by legends such as Ukoo Flani Mau Mau, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondy, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Black Uhuru.

The band has undergone several line-up changes over the years, with Lion DC, the lead vocalist and a founder of the band as the mainstay. The band has outdone themselves by performing at various major venues and events in and outside the country.

Dula a.k.a (Dula Wetu):

Dula is a Kenyan Reggae Singer / Songwriter.

Born in Malindi, in the Northern coast of Kenya (East Africa). He was raised by both his two parents together with his Brother and two sisters. Aged Twelve, Dula moved to Mombasa, Kenya.

While in school, Dula developed an understanding of his musical abilities and an appreciation for his Talent. He began his career in 1997 as a singer and started to record his music and send out demo tapes in the year 2000.

Dula’s music is a mix of East-African style vocals, along with both Reggae, African & Western beats. His first solo Album “Wherever you are” is ready for release. Wherever you are, has generated singles like ‘Singing the same songs’, `When you Rise’, `When this is over’ and `Tiara (KITE)’, among Reggae In The Sun 2017 | Know Your Artistss.

Dula’s Music video “Singing the Same Songs” is One of his Most playing song on Kenyan Reggae Networks, and the Video Currently Playing on Channels like Trace Urban and many more.


7th. January.2017. “Dula” Performed on the same Stage with a Legendary Jamaican Singer “Donovan Francis” and also performed their new Collaboration “Share the Love” for the first time in Nairobi Kenya.

24th.Sept.2016. “Dula” Perfomed Alondside Jamaican Reggae Artist ‘Romain Virgo” on His Soul Provider Kenya Tour.

16th. Sept.2016. Dula Performed Alongside Jamaican Female Singer Jah 9. on the Year of 9 Kenyan Tour.

Dula has been doing several stage Performances since he started his music career, including the known Uganda All Stars tour in Kampala, Uganda in the Year 2013.


Most of Dula’s Songs are in English and Swahili, but he at times borrows some other languages to spice up his Music.


In December, 2014 Dula was Awarded the Best Artist of the the year in the Uganda Slum Festival Kampala edition after emerging the first out of hundreds of Artists who participated in the “Slum Echoes” singing competition.

Reggae In The Sun Ras MtapaCommonly reffered to his fans as ‘Mtapa Taa’ by his following, Mtapa is a Kenyan born seasoned reggae artist from the heart of Mukuru Kayaba Kenya. Having been in the industry for a period of ten years.mtapa is one of the few local artist who feels the need to take and make time to perfect his skills and optimally harness his talents and creativity, In order to gracefully soar the heights of great music while at the same time, serving it up to the people as they deserve in pure high quality.

Having been born the child of the people, raised by the people and made by the people, Mtapa hence naturally finds and draws inspiration from the people and the environment around him. From great reggae legends and trend setters who came before him right down to a flower or a thorn he discovers in his backyard, Mtapa Tapa stays true to simplicity and learning at all times. Africa being his mother land gives and provides all he needs to learn and grow. She gives him his inspiration.
