4 Things to do for Thrift Social: Clothes Swap Edition
Thrift Social returns with it’s bimonthly event celebrating Nairobi’s thriving fashion community in a culmination of great music, clothing vendors, and a vibrant social scene.
On Sunday March 5th, 2017 attendees are invited to trade out their less worn items for treads of equal value from vendors. The event will take place at the Alchemist in Westlands. You can follow Thrift Social on social media, and buy your tickets here.
Check out past editions of Thrift Social to catch the vibe. If you’re planning on swapping clothes, check out these 4 tips on what to do before trading items.
1.) Go Through Your Closet
Grab any items that have been gently used, that you would be willing to swap. Create piles of what you want to keep, and what you’d be willing to part with in order to get some new threads.
2.) Separate Outerwear
Don’t try to swap any inner wear, intimates, or socks. Even if they might be rad, they will not be accepted by vendors.
3.) Keep ’em Fresh
It feels good to be fresh! Give your clothes a good wash and dry before packing them up to be swapped.
4.) Get Swapping
Agree with the vendor on the value of your swap item, and walk away with a brand new equal value item. Clothes will also be available for purchase, for those non-swappers.
