Walking into the Alchemist bar in Nairobi, a sight for sore eyes is the Mama Rocks food truck that is situated in the premises. Run by two African sisters Natalie and Samantha who spent a lot of their life living overseas, it is definitely a place everyone should check out. Specializing in hand-crafted gourmet burgers with an African twist to them. They also offer other wings, french fries, ice-cream’s and a variety of drinks but you cannot go to Mama Rocks and not experiment on the tantalizing gourmet burgers at your disposal. I cannot guarantee that it will be easy to choose from all the ones on the menu as even their names can shift concentration from an already hungry brain, with titles like “Fela Mama” and “Mango Maasai Mama” just to name a couple.
From the onset, the warm British accents mixed with a splash of African demeanour welcomes everyone from all walks of life to this amazing treat. They say nobody cooks better than a mother, I understood why they chose to go with the name Mama Rocks after I had one. The packaging, the sides and once you have had a bite of the mouth-watering handmade gourmet burger, you would understand why too. Definitely a delicacy worth trying if you are around Nairobi and it’s environs.
Very affordable and with adequate sitting space for all that choose to sit and enjoy thier burger on site, also efficient service to cater to the takeaway needs. Being a food truck, means mobility and mama rocks is becoming more diverse as they look to park at different venues for particular events to ensure if you can’t come to them, let mama rocks come to you. If you haven’t yet, I strongly suggest that you make a point to try some of the best gourmet burgers this side of the sahara.
