”IT’S AN AFRICAN ONE” is Yemi Alade’s latest release that captures African pride in all its essence. Yemi marries her rich voice with Sauti Sol’s flair word play to create a touching song complete with subtle, yet heart warming visuals. The video explores Africa’s beauty, uniqueness and culture. The video also highlights some of the Pan-African leaders for their contribution towards building a home that all of us can enjoy.
The video is a breathe of fresh air and a moment of reflection across Africa which is currently going through a rough patch. Mama Africa and the African Kings of Pop previously worked together on Coke Studio filmed in Nairobi when the two were paired together.
The collaboration comes at a time when Sauti Sol is enjoying an African audience in Nigeria, after being featured in yet another Nigerian hit with 2Baba (formerly 2Face Idibia) ‘Oya Come Make We Go’.
Nigerian music has enjoyed massive, yet unrequited airplay and bookings in Kenya for the longest time (due to its consistence, creativity, quality, quantity and range). Furthermore, the recent years has seen Kenyan acts like Sauti Sol, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, Muthoni Drama Queen, Papa Dennis and Akothee bag strategic collaborations, that have in turn facilitated a symbiotic relationship between the two markets.
