Good People, Party People, Weekend Warriors,
Earthdance Nairobi is back!
It’s Monday, which for some of us means that it’s time to start planning the weekend. This weekend on Saturday October 3rd 2015, there is absolutely no competition; the only place to be is Earthdance Nairobi 2015.
Earthdance Nairobi has taken place every year since 2009. It is part of the worldwide Earthdance movement, founded in 2001. Since its beginnings, Earthdance has sought to coordinate parties with a cause, most notably the annual Earthdance international music and dance festival for peace, of which Earthdance Nairobi 2015 is an integral part.
“Earthdance has supported the work of peace, sustainability, and social justice charities in many countries, via producers and communities that participate in the global event. Every Earthdance event partners with a local peace, sustainability, or social justice charity, promoting the organization, featuring them at events, and donating 50% of event profits to support their work.”
Earthdance also conducts awareness campaigns related to its annual global event themes. The Earthdance 2015 theme is Awakening. At Earthdance Nairobi we will be focussed on an awakened love, respect and unity with the earth and the natural environment.
“The venue is a new corner of the Ngong Racecourse, which features the Ngong Forest set against a water resevoir which brings this festival’s true essence to the forefront. It’s about music, in nature, and with peace.”
This year features 3 stages, curated by 3 established Kenyan entertainment houses: the 6:AM Electronic Stage, Epic Nation’s Urban Stage, and Be Distinctive Kenya’s ‘Underground Stage’, which features a selection of Kenya’s best deep and progressive minded DJs.
The line-up is beyond belief, and includes members of the What’s Good Live family, Taio and Jack Rooster.
“We are proud to announce TIMO HIGGS and STRAIN as this year’s headlining acts on the Electronic Stage. TIMO HIGGS is of Polish origin and hones his craft playing the latest Electronic music in The U.A.E. STRAIN is of Kenyan Origin and he has established himself in the Cape Town Psytrance scene. Alongside Kenya’s biggest names in the industry, this is gonna be one hell of a Festival!”
Along with the great music, Earthdance Nairobi 2015 are introducing a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) bar system for the best festival experience this year. BYOB means we bring the beats, and you bring the booze. There will be a limited bar in operation so you better make sure your cooler box is packed to avoid queueing up at the bar. If you run out, there will be wholesale deals on most drinks at the BYOB bar. As this is an outdoor festival, there is a NO GLASS policy. Which means you must decant any drinks in glass bottles into plastic bottles. If you cannot find any plastic bottles we will have a mandatory ‘Decanting Station’ for all drinks in glass bottles.
As usual, What’s Good Live will be at the heart of the action, bringing you live updates on everything that’s going down at Earthdance Nairobi 2015. Make sure you stay up to date with all the details of the festival here and on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
“Earthdance is a world of communities, working and playing together to create a culture of peace, through music and dance events, synchronized global link-ups, and social activism. More than just an epic party, Earthdance is a flash forward to an alt peaceful future.”
Earthdance Nairobi 2015 is by far the highlight of the party season, and you’re all invited to come and dance the night away with us.
