“The Party never stops and
the Swagger never sleeps”

Good people what’s up!?

The #PartyCalendar will be coming to you EVERY THURSDAY as a full show on wglive.tv… That’s What’s Up!

And now onto the Turn Up…

UP LIVE 4 (OFF THE RAILS); 11th July

Since its inception at the Kenya National Theater, UP Live has set out to bring the pages of UP Magazine alive through art and music, and last year’s UP Live (the third in a series) was touted as one of the most successful curations of Nairobi’s urban scene of the year.

This year, the melting pot of art, rhythm and creativity that is UP Magazine’s 4th anniversary party will be even bigger and better. With the antiquated trains of the Nairobi Railway Museum as an indelible industrial canvass, “UP Live IV: Off The Rails” will continue UP’s tradition of creating a memorable concoction of live music, art and design thinking in a uniquely constructed and transformative environment.

The combination of live acts and DJ sets will feature two international artists:

Sekou Kouyate from Guinea (via Paris)

and DJ Kali from Germany

These two high profile acts will be accentuated with performances by fast rising girl band KIU , Iddi Aziz and his multi-talented family and Maia Lekow. DJs Foozak, Gregg Tendwa, Sir Loin, Jinku and Solvation will also play on the night. Capping off the late night set will be the nine-piece orchestra that is the Kaya Collective; in all, 10 hours of live entertainment is planned.

Original to this year’s event is the Designers Street Faire, showcasing unique designers based in Kenya, as part of UP Magazine’s initiative: Disruption by Design Awards (‪#‎DXD2015‬).

Expect great chill out sponsor lounges and food vendors, including a cafe and bottle service bar.

This is all at the Railway Museum.

It kicks off at 6.00 pm and tickets are Ksh 2,500 advance and Ksh 3000 at the gate. The first 250 Advance Tickets get an Easy Taxi voucher worth Ksh 500.

The clothing swap party at The BUS in the framework of Rub-a-Dub: Babylon Edition (Bad Mambo Productions).
Clean out your closet and swap those dust collectors for amazing ‘new’ things at swap.lab#2.

Oldie is Goldie!
A tailor will help you alter your new wardrobe items for a small charge.

How does it work?

1. Declutter – Clean out your closed and find items to swap (cloth, shoes and accessories, washed and in great condition please, maximum 10 items per person)

2. Swap.Lab – Drop your swap.cloth at the swap.lab and get your swap.pass for it. You can browse the swap.lab all day long and pick your favourite finds

3. Be creative – Too long, too short, too big? Work with our tailor to create your dream wardrobe

4. Be happy – and dance in your new dress to the music

Have fun, mingle and swap clothes, shoes and accessories
Please note that the clothes given to swap.lab can’t be claimed back. ‘Leftover’ cloth which didn’t find a new owner will be donated to charity.

Why swapping?

Besides having fun and getting ‘new’ clothes for ‘free’ it is certain that clothes production often has a negative impact on the environment (speak growing cotton, bleach, colours, CO2). Not only since Rana Plaza we know about the often bad conditions workers have to produce clothes.
Swap and do better!
